Start your engines!
Lightning McQueen, Mater, Sally, Luigi and more have returned to put the pedal to the metal and chase that checkered flag.
Cars 3: Driven to Win owes a lot to games like Mario Kart combining the best of those racing games in a perfect package that offers so much variety. There are over 20 characters to play and unlock as well as 16 tracks to challenge.
After learning the basics as Lightning McQueen with a slew of guest star racers, you are free to pursue a career in the Piston Cup Racing Series or explore the various racing modes.
Besides a simple race, players can compete in a Battle Race. Much like Mario Kart, surprise packages are scattered across the track containing bombs, missiles, grenades which can be used to eliminate the other drivers.
In my favourite: Takedown, weapons are used to blast A.I. targets while a timer ticks down. I could play this all day, every day, seven days a week. It is that much fun.
Stunt Showcase is all about big air and big stunts to rack up the most points.
There is a Best Lap Challenge and a sandbox freestyle mode which allows gamers to play any way they wish, sort of like a mini Disney Infinity package.
You can also race against the various champions in Master Level events and customize familiar characters changing the noise of their horns and paint schemes.
Perhaps the hardest aspects to master are the ability to drive backwards and to drift around corners. When you chose to do any of these, you do lose some manner of control then again; they can be easily ignored or avoided. You don’t need to drift around corners, you can just drive on through if you want and the same goes for driving backwards, you can just avoid doing so if you choose to.
Cars 3: Driven to Win features all of the characters that fans have come to love and has so many options to choose from that kids and adults alike will never get bored. Cars 3: Driven to Win will keep those ankle biters busy all through summer vacation and beyond. Ka-Chow!
